Website speed: why one second is worth customers
Every second of delay loses customers. Here's why we build sites on Cloudflare and how to measure yours in two minutes.
Open your site on your phone, on mobile data, not Wi-Fi. Count. If you got past "one-thousand-two", you have a problem that's costing you money.
What the data says
- Most mobile users abandon a page that takes more than 3 seconds to load.
- Every extra second noticeably lowers conversions.
- Google uses speed (Core Web Vitals) as a ranking factor.
Why sites are slow
Usually: large unoptimised photos (a 5 MB shot straight from the phone), too many WordPress plugins, cheap overloaded hosting, and third-party scripts (chat, pixels, video) loading before the content.
How we build fast sites
Cloudflare Workers. Our sites are served from Cloudflare's global network, hundreds of cities worldwide. When someone in Tirana, Milan or London opens your site, they get it from the nearest server, not from a room in Germany. The page you're reading is built exactly this way.
Modern image formats. WebP/AVIF, at the right size, loaded only when they come into view.
Lightweight code. No heavy frameworks when they're not needed. A company site doesn't need 2 MB of JavaScript.
Aggressive caching. The second visit opens instantly.
Measure it yourself
Go to PageSpeed Insights, enter your address and check the "Mobile" score. Under 50 = urgent. 50–89 = work to do. 90+ = very good.
